Hi Unkindled!

SFG Giblin here! I've been in and out of the comments section of the Kickstarter the past few weeks, hopefully if you're a regular there you've seen me posting and hopefully I've been able to answer your questions! Whilst I've not been able to answer every individual question hopefully the knowledge is spreading and with Kickstarter's new 'reply' feature it's far easier to engage with you directly.

Container Shipping

This section focuses on the containers being sent from the Factory in China to the Shipping Hubs around the globe.

United Kingdom (UK)

  • The 2 remaining containers (remaining Black Dragon Kalameet, Gaping Dragon, Old Iron King, and Guardian Dragon) are now in transit following the disruption caused by tropical storm Jongdari. They are on-track for delivery to the hub on September 10th.

United States (US)

  • The 4th US container (The Four Kings, Black Dragon Kalameet) has been received at the US hub.
  • The 5th, 6th and 7th containers (remaining Black Dragon Kalameet, Gaping Dragon, Old Iron King, and Guardian Dragon) are now in transit following the disruption caused by tropical storm Jongdari. They are on-track for delivery to the hub on September 10th.

European Union (EU)

  • The container for the EU hub has been collected from the factory. The vessel is due to sail later this week, with an ETA for delivery to the hub of September 30th – slightly later than originally estimated by our carrier.

Canada

  • The container for the Canadian hub is in transit. ETA for delivery to the hub is September 27th – slightly later than originally estimated by our carrier.

Australia

  • The container for the Australian hub is in transit. ETA for delivery to the hub is September 10th.

Asia

  • The container for the Asian hub has yet to be collected from the factory. As this container will be travelling by road, the transit time is days rather than weeks, giving an ETA at the hub of early September – slightly later than originally estimated.

Fulfilment

This section focuses on the Hubs sending product to Backers directly.

United Kingdom (UK)

  • Orders containing a combination of ONLY the Darkroot Expansion and Extra Dice Pack for EU and rest of world backers being fulfilled from the UK hub* have been dispatched.
  • All UK orders containing a combination of Asylum Demon, Black Dragon Kalameet and The Four Kings (plus the Darkroot Expansion or Extra Dice Pack from the previous containers) have been dispatched.
  • Orders containing a combination of Asylum Demon, Black Dragon Kalameet and The Four Kings (plus the Darkroot Expansion or Extra Dice Pack from the previous containers) for EU and rest of world backers being fulfilled from the UK hub* are in the process of being dispatched. Current estimates are that this will be finished early next week.
  • Once the remaining 2 containers have been delivered, any outstanding Wave 2 orders will begin shipping from the hub from September 17th. This will be largest batch of orders and is expected to take 2 – 3 weeks to complete.

United States (US)

  • Orders containing a combination of the ONLY Darkroot Expansion, Extra Dice Pack and Asylum Demon have been dispatched to backers.
  • Due to a larger than expected fulfilment queue at the US hub, the original fulfilment ETA for The Four Kings and Black Dragon Kalameet will not be met. The new ETA provided for these orders is September 10th. We understand this is disappointing and are working closely with the hub to reduce this where possible.
  • We will update on the fulfilment commencement date of all remaining orders in a later update. We first need to clarify if the above delay will impact the upcoming fulfilment of remaining orders.

European Union (EU)/Canada/Asia/Australia

  • No fulfilment currently taking place.
  • We are working with the hubs to book fulfilment windows. More information will be provided in a future update.

Still Unsure?

Several backers have been contacting the team for clarification on split shipping. As outlined in Update 171. A Wave 2 order will only be shipped once all items included in the order have been delivered to the hub. Here are a few example orders (names changed of course!) shipping from the US hub to help explain:

  • Alex ordered the Darkroot Expansion. His order will therefore have been dispatched (see above on US fulfilment). This should have been delivered or is currently on its way.
  • Abby ordered the Darkroot Expansion, and Black Dragon Kalameet. The most recently received container included Black Dragon Kalameet, meaning her order is now eligible to ship, and both items will be dispatched in the next 2 – 3 weeks (see above on US fulfilment).
  • Firoz ordered the Darkroot Expansion, Black Dragon Kalameet and Guardian Dragon. As the Guardian Dragon is on one of the containers currently in transit, his order will not ship until mid-September when this container arrives at the US hub.
  • Edward ordered the Darkroot Expansion, Black Dragon Kalameet, Guardian Dragon, Vordt of the Boreal Valley, and the Darkroot and Iron Keep Tile set. His order will be shipped at the same time as Firoz but will not include Vordt or the tile set - these items will be shipped with the Wave 3 Stretch Goals.

*Depending on the number of products ordered, several EU orders, and all orders to countries outside the fulfilment hub territories will be shipped from the UK hub. As a general guideline, EU orders containing 3 or less items will be shipped from the UK hub, but this may vary depending on the destination country and purchased items.

Wave 2 Shipping & Fulfilment - Update 1

Hi Unkindled!

The huge operation of shipping Wave 2 Expansions to over 40,000 Backers (inc. Late Pledges) is underway! We’ve already seen some Backers receive their Darkroot Expansion via social media, and we can’t wait to get the Mega Boss Expansions out to you too!

Our Project Managers have been extremely busy liaising with the various companies involved in shipping so many packages. They’re now able to give a more detailed breakdown of how the shipping & fulfilment of Wave 2 is progressing, everyone involved in this momentous project is working incredibly hard to ensure you get your products.

Below you will find the status of the shipping containers, and fulfilment currently taking place.

Container Shipping

UK

  • The 3rd UK container (containing Black Dragon Kalameet, Asylum Demon, and The Four Kings) has been delivered and unloaded.
  • The 2 remaining containers (remaining Black Dragon Kalameet, Gaping Dragon, Old Iron King, and Guardian Dragon) have been collected by our carrier. The vessel was unable to sail to the original timetable due to disruption caused by Tropical Storm Jongdari. The vessel is now due to depart today (August 10th), with an ETA of September 14th.

US

  • The 4th US container (The Four Kings, Black Dragon Kalameet) is still estimated to be delivered on August 24th.
  • The 5th, 6th, and 7th containers (remaining Black Dragon Kalameet, Gaping Dragon, Old Iron King, and Guardian Dragon) were due to sail last week, but departure was delayed due to Tropical Storm Jongdari. These are now in transit, with a new ETA of September 10th.

EU/Can/Aus.

  • Carriers have been booked for the containers going to the EU, Canadian, and Australian hubs, but they have not yet been collected from the factory. The ETA for these containers is mid-September.

Asia

  • The products for the Asian hub will be travelling by road but have not yet been collected from the factory. The ETA to the Asian hub is mid to late August.

Fulfilment

UK

  • Orders containing Darkroot only have been shipped to UK backers. 
  • Orders containing a combination of Darkroot and Extra Dice will begin shipping today (10th August). This includes orders for some EU and rest of world backers* 
  • On completion of this, packing and dispatch of orders containing a combination of Black Dragon Kalameet, The Four Kings, and Asylum Demon (plus any expansions from previous containers) will begin. This is currently scheduled to commence from August 20th.

US

  • Due to unforeseen delays, fulfilment did not start to the original timeline. However, the US hub has confirmed that orders containing any combination of Darkroot, Extra Dice, and Asylum Demon have begun shipping to backers, with this round of dispatches completing by Monday 13th August. 
  • Once the 4th US container’s contents have been checked in to the hub, packing and dispatch of orders containing a combination of The Four Kings and Black Dragon Kalameet (plus any expansions from previous containers) will begin. This is currently scheduled for the week commencing 27th August.

EU/Can/Aus/Asia

  • No fulfilment currently taking place.

Over the following weeks, we want to ensure you are kept up to date on all the happenings with Wave 2 shipping. We will therefore post shipping updates as we receive information from our carriers and hubs, including any changes (good or bad) that could impact our delivery timelines.

Wave 2 Shipping Update

Hi unkindled,  

As we’re sure you can imagine, we’ve been pretty busy working on getting all the Wave 2 product manufactured and shipped around the world. Sadly, despite our best efforts, some of our expected dates haven’t been met by our manufacturing partners which has led to an unavoidable delay in some of the expansions. This means we’re faced with a big decision:

a) Hold all Wave 2 product until the final boat arrives and then send out in one-hit to everyone  

b) Send Wave 2 products in batches immediately upon arrival at our distribution hubs

Obviously, neither option is ideal, each with it’s own downsides so we’re between a rock and hard place. Upon serious reflection, we feel that option b) is the best course of action to start getting the games to the majority of backers as quickly as possible.

This decision now means that shipping to backers from our hubs starts from Monday in the following territories if a backer has ordered any combination of the following product(s):  

UK/RoW – Darkroot Basin and/or Extra Dice.  

US – Darkroot Expansion, Aslyum Demon and/or Extra Dice.

Our current best estimate is that all territories will have all products at the hubs and out for shipment to backers by the 10th September 2018 – completing Wave 2 delivery for all backers.

Vordt + Tile Set

Upon receiving our Wave 2 products we noticed that a lot of Vordt’s were broken in transit. Although this can occasionally happen (we allow for breakages) the frequency of faults found meant it caused a major concern point for us. The fault is due to the vacuum-form tray that had been made for the model being too loose and allowed the piece to shake, rattle and break into pieces whilst in transit.

We therefore requested additional samples to be sent in order to confirm the failure rate and the problem was occurring far too frequently - clearly unacceptable. We have been working with our manufacturers to re-tool the vacuum-form tray to better secure the model. Although we had hoped we could get this on the last boat of Wave 2 unfortunately this will not be the case and so Vordt will now be arriving with Wave 3.

The tile set is also unfortunately still going through the approval process with BANDAI NAMCO. Obviously its vital to ensure the IP holders are fully happy with what we produce for the consumer and as such the tileset will also be pushed to Wave 3 to allow for the approval process to complete.

Wave 3  

So where are we at with Wave 3? Well, its pretty clear to us (and to you) that the above issues will have knock-on impact on Wave 3 delivery. At this stage, it feels completely unavoidable. The original quotes and length of production estimates supplied by our manufacturing partners were simply too short for a project of this size. The sheer volumes involved are huge and so we are currently deep in talks with our manufacturing partners to update the delivery roadmap. 

We do not want to guess as to what the timeline now looks like until we have been to China and thrashed this out with the team over there. We will come back to you all with a roadmap we can all believe in as soon as possible.

FAQ  

How will my order be affected if I had Vordt/and or the tiles included?  

We will simply remove those items from Wave 2 (shifting them to Wave 3 fulfilment) and send the rest of your items as normal. For example, if you ordered Vordt and the Darkroot Expansion we would send you the Darkroot Expansion immediately followed by Vordt in Wave 3.  

When will you update us on Wave 3 shipping?  

As we did with the last major shipping update, we want to get all the facts before we confirm anything. Even with all our pre-planning we have experienced slippage with wave 2 and we do not like passing on information that turns out to be incorrect – it feels real bad and helps no one for us to guess.  

How long does it take to get from a hub to my house?  

We have ensured with Wave 2 delivery as best we can that all products will have the shortest route to arrive at their destination. It would be impossible for us to say due to the variety of locations and hubs around the world so we cannot give an accurate estimate until the product leaves the hubs.

Does this affect the retail bosses?

No, retail bosses will be shipped separately from Wave 2/3 content as previously discussed and retailers will be informed when these are ready directly.
